Prompt to summarize a long text
Prompt to copy
Here is a text: [paste the text]. Summarize it at 3 levels: 1) one sentence, 2) five key points, 3) a 120-word paragraph. Then list the important figures or dates, and the points where the author stays vague or cautious. Do not add anything that is not in the text. If you are unsure about a passage, write "to check".
The three levels let you choose how deeply to read. The instruction not to add anything limits invented content.
How to use it

- Ask for adjustments: shorter, more formal, more concrete.
Tips for better results
- Reread the original for the passages that really matter.
- For a very long document, summarize it in parts, then ask for a summary of the summaries.
- Also ask which questions the text leaves open.
